Three days in Granada is a real treat: enough time to see the big sights without rushing, get pleasantly lost in the neighbourhoods, and even slip away to the mountains or the coast. For me, it’s the perfect amount of time to fall in love with the city. Here’s the itinerary I’d put together.
Let’s get to it.
Day 1: the Alhambra and the centre
Spend the morning at the Alhambra and the Generalife (book your ticket in advance). In the afternoon, the centre: the Cathedral, the Royal Chapel and the Alcaicería. And for dinner, a tapas crawl along Calle Navas to get into the swing of things.
Day 2: Albaicín, Sacromonte and viewpoints
- Morning: the Albaicín along the Carrera del Darro, nice and slow.
- Afternoon: Sacromonte and the viewpoints at sunset.
- Evening: flamenco in a Sacromonte cave.
Day 3: the Realejo and a day trip
Start with a stroll around the Realejo, the old Jewish quarter full of street art and life, and treat yourself to one last round of tapas. If you’ve still got the energy, make the most of it with a day trip: in under an hour you can be in Sierra Nevada (snow or hiking) or on the beaches of the Costa Tropical. Mountain or sea, you choose.
Tips for three days
- Book the Alhambra as soon as you’ve got your dates.
- Stay central: where to stay in Granada.
- Leave room to wander: with three days, you can afford not to plan every minute.
